Studebaker Vintage Cars

In 1904 Studebaker started making gasoline powered cars, thus becoming one of the first true manufacturers of cars for the public. Although Studebaker stopped making cars in 1966 many people are still looking for Studebaker vintage cars. Here’s a look at the types of Studebaker vintage cars that you can find at a vintage car dealer.

The Hawk series is the most popular of Studebaker vintage cars that you can find. Made between 1956 and 1964, the Hawk series of Studebaker vintage cars was started when the company merged with Packard. The Flight Hawk is the first and the lowest priced model of Studebaker vintage cars in this range. A two-door coupe, the Flight Hawk featured a six cylinder engine. This is different from all other Hawk models in that the others used eight cylinder engines. The 1964 Super Hawk is the highest model of the Hawk series. It features a supercharged engine with front disc brakes.

The Commander is one of the toughest models to find among Studebaker vintage cars. The President series of the Commander vehicles is the highest end model, and the Custom series is generally less expensive. The Commander models from its initial 1928-1958 series are considered to be more valuable than the 1964 revival of the Commander.

Trucks are among the Studebaker vintage cars that are also available in some places. The Champ, which was made in the 1960s, is especially known for its impressive comfort on the inside and the durability of its parts on the inside. The Transtar, an earlier model, featured fiberglass grilles in most cases. The Transtar was also known for coming in various sizes that could handle different levels of weights.

The most common concern about Studebaker vintage cars is that of rust. The front of the cars and the cab floors can rust very easily if they are not taken care of on a regular basis. It can be highly expensive to repair rust damaged because Studebaker parts are clearly not as available as those of other models that are still in production today. Also, if the rust gets to be too severe then it could get to the point where the car is completely unrepairable.

There is a great place for owners of Studebaker vintage cars to get together in support of their vehicles. That is the Studebaker Drivers Club. Located online at studebakerdriversclub.com, you can find information on chapters in your area. If you’re interested in looking for a place that sells Studebaker vintage cars you can locate your local chapter and talk with a member regarding information on places where you can find Studebaker vintage cars. On the group’s website you can also get answers to various questions you may have regarding different kinds of Studebaker vintage cars.

Studebaker vintage cars are especially unique. Not only are there various different kinds of Studebaker models but you can find Studebaker aficionados in your area too.
